Thompson Creek Trail is a popular hunting trail. It is a lower elevation trail through Lode pole Pine. This mile long paved bike, horse and walking trail follow the concreted channel of Thompson's Creek. While walking on this path in the late evening hours, strange noises that sound like scratching footsteps coming from bushes on the sides of the trail have been heard. The crackling sounds from the power lines overhead don't help the experience too much, adding a deeper eeriness to this location. There have been also reports of cloud structures forming skull like shapes. When no one is around you, sometimes hiding behind bushes, sometimes shadowy figures can be seen walking behind you. Thompson Creek trail starts just across from the Pink Beds and the laurels definitely carry over. Ultimately, the trail ends at the Pilot Rock trail about a mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway. This trail is a mellow hike with small up/downs over mostly dirt/rock trail. Trail Begins: Forest Road 304 |
