Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo, Venice: hotel review

Occupying a typically ornate Venetian mansion, Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo offers spotless rooms and easy access to the major sites.

The Al Ponte Mocenigo, on the lower two floors of a typical Venetian mansion, is two minutes from the San Stae vaporetto stop on Route 1 – which runs along the Grand Canal – tucked behind the Palazzo Mocenigo (now a museum). The main entrance is reached via its own bridge across the Rio San Stae canal.

The owners, Valter and Sandro, both of whom speak excellent English, are charming. The rooms are spotlessly clean, as are the en-suite bathrooms, which include excellent water pressure and heated towel rails (although a decent light above the mirror would be appreciated).
