Arriving on a clear day, the views are magnificent as you descend from the North York Moors heading towards the small coastal town nestled at the foot of the cliffs just a few miles ahead. And whichever direction you`re coming from, in front of you on the cliff top to the east, overlooking the town and sea, the ruins of the old Abbey will be first to catch your eye. And, if it happens that the mist is rolling in from the sea, you might just get a shivery feel for a previous vistor to this fishing town back in the 1890`s. |
