Bill Bailey's holiday heaven and hell

We started at Tana Toraja, which is stunningly beautiful, with lush green rice terraces and volcanic boulders. Then, in the jungle, we got into inflatables on a river that was a churning mass of brown water. It looked like CNN footage of a disaster. It was exhilarating and terrifying at the same time.

We'd raft on the flat, then we'd come to rapids and there'd be a mad flurry of paddling to get up speed to go over the 8ft waves. We'd get through and everybody would reach for the cigarettes, then you'd hear another roar from down the river. It was a complete roller-coaster.
