Bath is the most perfectly preserved Georgian city in Britain, and its handsome terraces and crescents take on a honey-coloured glow in the spring sunshine. It also has one of the country's very best historical sites in the Roman Baths – alongside which is a striking new spa for 21st-century visitors wanting to bathe in the city's thermal waters.
