The new Amtrak 2010 Spring/Summer System Timetable is now available in stations and online at Amtrak.com. It includes improved schedules, more trains, and the restoration of checked baggage service on the Cardinal (New York-Cincinnati-Chicago). In addition, the schedules for Northeast Corridor trains have returned after not being printed in previous editions as a result of then-ongoing extensive track improvement projects. “The new timetable is a great planning tool travelers can use to find the right Amtrak train to get them where they are going and avoid the expenses, hassle and frustration that often come with driving or flying,” said President and CEO Joseph Boardman. Boardman said Amtrak is experiencing record ridership in the first six months of this fiscal year and is adding capacity to trains by returning to service newly restored and refurbished passenger rail cars. Plus, Amtrak enhanced customer service with the introduction of free Wi-Fi earlier this year on its premier high-speed Acela Express trains and at major stations along the Northeast Corridor. |
