Thousands of passengers were stranded across the country Wednesday after the state-run Air India cancelled 80 flights due to a strike by maintenance and ground crew. Air India said the cancelled flights included 24 from Delhi, 37 from Mumbai and 15 from the other metro cities including Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore. Flights to international destinations including Singapore, Dubai, Bangkok, Kathmandu and Muscat were also cancelled. More than half of the airline's 31,000 employees walked off the job Tuesday, three days after an Air India flight crashed in the south-western city of Mangalore, killing 158 people. |
