Tata Motors Co. Ltd has launched Tata Nano car as a Common Man’s car with the plan of giving car at a price of Rs.100,000 to Indian customers. It has announced the results of the lucky draw containing the names of the 100,000 lucky Nano buyers in India. The company finished the random selection process on Tuesday June 23, 2009. Tata Motors has opened 30,000 booking centers across 1,000 cities in India. First 100,000 proprietors of the Tata Nano selected; 55,021 retainees have also gotten their allotment; Deliveries opening for the month of July in Mumbai. The Tata Motor Company said it expects to complete delivery of the first lot of Nano's by the last quarter of 2010. The selection was made during a random computerized procedure after bookings stopped on April 25, 2009. The bookings were started on April 9 and around two lakh bookings were made across Tata Motors dealerships and State Bank of India (SBI) branches. Total 206,703 people had booked the Tata Nano car with an option to choose if they want to retain their bookings when their names are not announced in the first phase of delivery. Additionally, they will be entitled to an interest of 8.5 percent on the booking amount if the car is delivered within two years from the date of allotment of 23rd June and 8.75 percent after 2 years from the date of allotment. The statement added, the booking amounts of the unsuccessful applicants shall be returned.
