Windows 7 HP Drivers - HP Printer for Windows 7
HP says some Windows 7 printer drivers are coming but not all of its printers will be supported on Windows 7 Microsoft's new operating system. For their Hewlett-Packard printer, Windows 7 users may find there are no drivers yet; however it expects to release some new compatible drivers soon said by the HP, the world’s largest technology company. All the information about HP Printer dirvers for Windows 7 is given here.
Some of the newer products of Hp which was released on October 22 should be used with Windows 7, this is recommended by HP. Apage on HP's website offers a list of products that either do have drivers available soon. Older products may have limited driver support, limited features or both. No support is offered for Windows 7, if your legacy product is not listed.
About the driver situation, users have been griping on HP forums for months. HP is not developing drivers for products that have drivers for Windows Vista, Windows 7's predecessor in some cases. There will be no support for HP Laserjet Color 3600n under Windows 7, according to HP's compatibility lists. Read more here.
To make sure that the majority of newly started products supported Windows 7, HP worked with Microsoft and continues to work with them to ensure the smooth transition moving forward. At first, which of the absent drivers may be released, is not said by HP. The spokeswoman said that at least some of the drivers should be available within a couple of weeks if not sooner.
According to an email response from a spokeswoman on behalf of the company, the delay with the drivers HP is building "really has to do with making sure that all the drivers work smoothly for the customers who make the Windows 7 change."
How to Install Printer Drivers in Windows 7:
- Start the update program’s executable file (e.g., sp37473.exe).
- You will see the message but do not close it.
- Open up Windows Explorer
- Type ‘%temp%’ in the address bar to switch over to your temporary files directory.
- Sort the view by “Last Modified Date” and look for the folder that was most recently modified (for me the folder names seem to be consistently named “pft____.tmp” where the underscores are some random string).
- Go into the folder, and then again into the folder with the actual driver files (usually named ’src’ or ’source’, etc.).
- Copy the full path to that folder to your clipboard.
- Head over to the Device Manager and right click on the device you are trying to install drivers for.
- Select “Update Driver Software…”
- Click on the “Browse my computer for driver software” button.
- Paste the path to the folder with the driver files into the text box/drop down list.
- Make sure the “Include subfolders” checkbox is checked (some of these seemed to have several levels of nested folders).
- Click on Next.
