What Do You Make Of That New Mini?

So, what do you make of the updated Mac mini?

I think it remains a very attractive buy, but not to so many people; mainly because it doesn’t feel like the bargain it used to be.

My old G4 mini (now sold off to a happy new owner) was a great machine for the money it cost, and performed very well at every task I asked of it.

It’s the notion of *value* that has defined the mini to date, and that’s the main problem I see with this update. Yes, we all know that Apple doesn’t do cheap machines, but the mini represented excellent value for money: plenty of bang for your buck.

The improved specs are nice to see (no matter how many USB ports are on the back), but at 499 UK pounds for the low-end model the perceived value is starting to look pretty thin.
