We Can Stop Watching Dancing With The Stars! [Farewell to a Woz]

Despite giving America more entertainment than the FCC allows in the primetime hours, the merciless public ejected Woz from the ranks of the inept celebrity dancers fighting for the crown on “Dancing With The Stars.” After weeks of mockery from the judges and enough feather boas for a lifetime, the people spoke and demanded that Woz never again attempt a quickstep.

On the one hand, I’m disheartened. Anyone who watched the episodes featuring our favorite fuzzy Apple founder knows he was about a million times more interesting than all the other “stars” put together. No one else rode a Segway to rehearsal, no one else embraced learning like he did, and no one else wore those black socks with gym shorts the way Woz did week after week.

On the other hand, I’m thrilled that the ordeal is over. Have you ever actually watched “Dancing With the Stars”? It’s some of the least compelling TV I have ever encountered. “American Idol” offers more interest, and it’s less exciting than your average episode of “Matlock.” I couldn’t bring myself to liveblog his dance this week, and I have a feeling most Mac fanboys were in a similar position. If the geeks weren’t motivated to vote, Woz never stood a chance, anyway.

I salute, you, oh Woz-y one. You showed courage and fortitude that we would all do well to emulate. How long until you take a crack at the “Amazing Race” with Jobs?
