The free Lumix Remote app, which works only for Lumix DMC-FX90, will be expanded to cover additional Lumix cameras with built-in Wi-Fi. The Lumix DMC-FX90 was released around 9 months ago and apart from the built-in Wi-Fi capability and 3 inch touchscreen, it had a 12MP sensor, 5x optical zoom, f2.5 maximum aperture lens and ability to shoot 1080i video at 60 fps or 1080p at 30fps.

After upgrading the camera's firmware, the FX90 will offer many new functions like remote view, remote shutter, self shot mode etc. The remote view function allows users to check the same photo as that on the Live View screen of the camera. The remote shutter function allows setting of the zoom level and shooting of still picture. The self shot mode function is useful for shooting a self portrait. Another app, Lumix Link may be used to transfer photos from the camera to the iOS or Android device.
