NAVTEQ, a global provider of Geographic Information, has launched its real-time traffic information service in the two Indian cities - Delhi and Mumbai. The NAVTEQ Traffic Pro service will deliver detailed information regarding traffic speeds on motorways, main and secondary roads to enable users get more accurate estimated arrival times along with an in-car navigation system. The new real-time traffic information service is only available in 24 countries, where it powers a range of connected devices such as in-car navigation systems, personal navigation devices, mobile phones, smart pads and websites. Due to the NAVTEQ Traffic Pro service, consumers can know where and when to drive for saving time, fuel and frustration. NAVTEQ aggregates and analysis traffic data from a huge number of sources including commercial and consumer probe data, event-based data collected from government sources, its fixed proprietary sensor network and historical traffic records. Now, the latest version of the NAVTEQ map of India is obtainable in above 2,200 cities of India that covers 6.47 million points of interest across 1.19 million km of the national road network. The real time traffic service increase the fuel efficiency that could lead to a decrease in CO2 emissions per driver of 628 kilograms or 23 per cent less than a driver without a navigation system. |
