Here is an AutoCAD Tips to Solve Problems with the Today Window and How to Repair It, that are beneficial to solve problems with the today window and how to repair it. AutoCAD Today and gone tomorrow. Yes, this great utility that graces our screen after we first install AutoCAD may be a disaster in waiting unless treated with care.

The upper portion of the AutoCAD Today window titled “My Projects” is an incredible resource for document management. This portion is a no brainer to use and manipulate and doesn’t pose any threat.

The Bulletin Board is kind of cool, but pretty limited in it’s use for most work environments because of it’s size limitations.

The potential problem is the lower “Web” area. This area will connect users directly with the Autodesk Point A website if this area is expanded. The potential disaster is if you have a simple dial-up connection or network connection to the internet, this area will look up the website every time you open Today. Log-in times and dial-up speeds vary greatly and you may have to wait for a few minutes or more for this process to finalize itself. This process can also fail in mid stream, corrupting the Today window utility and denying you the ability to continue using AutoCAD! That’s right, locked out of your own house! Fortunately, Autodesk has provided you with a spare key to re-enter, or change the locks into Autocad.

Go to the directory where your version of AutoCAD was installed. In that directory you will find a folder called WebDepot with a sub-folder named ErrorHandler. In the ErrorHandler folder is a file called RepairToday.exe. That’s right, ERROR handler. Not too many pieces of software come with their very own error handler utility now do they? This utility will offer three levels of repair. Minimal, Medium, and Agressive. Start by using the minimum option first and if that fails progress through the other options until AutoCAD opens. Worst case scenario you will need to un-install AutoCAD and then re-install after rebooting your machine. Good luck!
