Philippe Crassous captured a big picture of hydrothermal worm using FEI Quanta SEM electron microscope. He submitted the picture to FEI's gallery. Hydrothermal worm is deep sea creature which is as small as bacterium. This picture of hydrothermal worm is zoomed 525 times. 568μm or 568/1000 of a millimeter is the actual width of the field in the image. Hydrothermal worm is mainly found in the ocean near hydrothermal vents. So you can not see this creature unless you're a deep sea marine biologist. Hydrothermal worm is bigger compared to an atom but it is still one of the smallest living things on the earth. In as many months hydrothermal worm is the 2nd multicellular organisms to be discovered. The 1st multicellular organisms had been discovered in the earth’s subsurface. |
