New 2011 Maruti Suzuki SX4 turbo diesel to launch in January

Maruti Suzuki SX4 turbo diesel will be launched in India in early 2011 by Indian car giant Maruti Suzuki to compete with diesel sedans in the segment. A 1.3-litre turbocharged (VGT) diesel engine will power the diesel SX4. Source of 1.3-litre turbocharged (VGT) diesel engine is Fiat and VGT diesel engine is also utilized in the Fiat Linea and Grande Punto. The engine has small size and it is expected that engine will offer high fuel efficiency.

The engine will produce 90 bhp of power and 210 Nm of torque. Superior and roomy interior will also be offered by diesel version similar to Suzuki SX4 petrol. The VW Vento diesel and the Fiat Linea diesel will be the competitors of the SX4 diesel. It is expected that Maruti Suzuki SX4 turbo diesel will enter production from January 3 and launch in late January. At present, the price of SX4 has not been announced but its anticipated cost will be about Rs. 50,000 more than the petrol version.

At present, Maruti SX4 is the uppermost priced car in Maruti’s India portfolio. The car is available in two versions such as petrol and CNG in the Indian market. Both automatic and manual transmission options are carried by Maruti SX4. Hyundai Verna transform, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Toyota Etios and Fiat Linea are the major competitors of this car in the country.
