There has been many rumors going around that the Sprint HTC EVO 4G's release date is set to June 13th. So having worked for Sprint for few years I called an old friend only to find it’s looking like a pretty viable prediction. As seen on Engadget they said, “a lot of upper management” was talking about mid-June as the day to usher in the next holy grail of Smartphones. In any case, its a relief to know we wont be waiting until late August, knock on wood at least. If its anything like these iPad crushing tablet coming out soon we’ll be more apt to see pigs fly as of late. The other hot topic with the Evo is 4G. The phone is said to launch with 3G and 4G services enabled and no additional cost for accessing 4G services on the phone directly. In the event you want to use it as the 4G Wi-Fi hot spot however; you’ll be ponying up anywhere from $10-$20 bucks a month for the ability to “wirelessly tether” with up to 8 of your buddies. To me it sounds like one heck of a deal. It was amazing to me, though, how many people were absolutely infuriated at the fact they would have to pay to use the phone as a modem. |
