Sony Xperia U available for pre-order in india at price of INR 16,499

Good news for all those people who are eagerly waiting for the mid range phone named Sony Xperia U. Sony has officially unveiled the Xperia U in the Mobile World Congress 2012 held in the month of February. At the time of unveiling, Sony did not reveal the price and availability of the phone. However, now it seems that the much awaited phone is about to hit the shelves of the market soon, because online pre-order for Xperia U has been started in India. Two popular online retailers, Letsbuy and Flipkart have listed Xperia U on their site. Letsbuy has kept Xperia U with a price tag of INR 17,399 for pre-orders while Flipkart shows Xperia U priced at just INR 16,499, but unfortunately Flipkart is not taking pre-orders.

The stylish Xperia U will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and Sony assures that they will upgrade the device to the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system very soon. The Xperia U will be powered by a 1 GH dual core STE U8500 processor. This powerful phone will weigh just 110g, which ensures easy handling of the handset. Xperia U will sport an impressive 3.5-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 854X480 pixels of resolution. It will provide 8GB of internal memory along with 512MB of RAM. The main drawback of the phone is the absence of micro SD card slot for memory expansion.

The classy Xperia U will come with exchangeable bottom caps i.e. you can change the color of the bottom part of device as per your choice. Xperia U will be equipped with a rear facing camera of 5MP and a VGA front facing camera of 0.3MP. The rear facing camera can record video up to 720p and will offer some interesting features like LED Flash, Smile detection, 3D Sweep Panorama, and lots more.
