Sony Xperia ST26i: Image surfaced without Specifications

Recently, we heard about the big news that came from Sony was the official launch of two new smartphones, the Sony Xperia GX - a flagship model and the Xperia SX - an LTE smartphone that is headed for Japan. Sony fans maybe delighted to know that the news of upcoming Sony handsets have not stopped and this time live images of another Sony handset codenamed Sony Xperia ST26i have just surfaced, according to a report by it168.com. Unfortunately, they just have leaked its blurry shots but the confirmed specifications are not released yet.

Leaked image suggests that the phone will really have great specifications based on the good looking design and the body of this mobile. Seeing the leaked image of ST26i, it can be assumed that this model has capacitive keys at the front unlike its older model having a home button on-screen. It is also expected that this model will have a new Android ICS OS instead of Gingerbread because the leaked image has shown the hardware buttons, which correspond to the 3 software buttons on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Hence, with this handset it seems that Sony decided to go on a different way than the GX and SX line-up, which contain virtual buttons.

Other specifications expected to feature on the upcoming handset, ST26i are its 4-inch qHD screen with a resolution of 540×960 and ST-Ericsson U8500 chipset, which embeds a dual-core processor clocked at 1 GHz and a DB8500 GPU. For memory storage, the phone will be equipped with 8GB of internal memory, 512MB RAM. Users will be pleased with HD video capable camera, as well it will come with GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz, 3G: WCDMA 2100 along with GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA.

One more surprising fact comes with this leaked image is that most of the Sony Smartphones are having the green globe logo, but it has now been removed due to the severance between Sony and its long-term partner Ericsson. This is considered as the biggest design change ever of this handset.

It seems that Sony is preparing an Android attack this year, as it had more than 10 leaked devices in the list. The ST26i handset is scheduled for summer launch along with the Olive I or the Lotus. But as far as pricing of the phone, sadly there is not any information released yet.
