Samsung Galaxy Note 2 vs Galaxy Note: Specs compared

Samsung, the leader of Smartphone market has unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on August 29 during the IFA 2012. Galaxy Note 2 was the second most awaited device of the year after Galaxy S 3. People who are using Galaxy Note would be excited to know, which one is better among the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 packs in a giant 5.5-inch HD SUPER AMOLED display with a 1280 x 720P resolution. The Galaxy Note comes with a 5.3-inch screen with higher 285 ppi and 1280 x 800 resolution. The Galaxy Note 2 has a big 5.5 inch display with higher 267 ppi and 1280 x 720 resolution.

The Galaxy Note 2 has a faster 1.6GHz Exynos quad-core processor as compared to the 1.4GHz Exynos dual-core processor in the older variant. Also the Note 2 doubles up the RAM (2GB) from its predecessor. The Galaxy Note offers 16GB of internal memory, but Note 2 comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants. The Note 2 is larger in dimensions and weight. Bluetooth has been upgraded to Bluetooth 4.0 in Note 2. The Galaxy Note 2 has an additional 600mAh of battery capacity. The Galaxy Note 2 comes with a thicker S-Pen along with a rubber tip. The new S-Pen supports 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity. The front camera has been downgraded to 1.9MP compared to 2.0MP in the older one. The Note 2 comes with the Google’s latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. It is a faster running platform as compared to the Ice Cream Sandwich in the original Galaxy Note.

For connectivity, both the devices have HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, HSDPA 21 Mbps, LTE, DLNA, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth with A2DP and EDR, micro USB 2.0 port and USB on the go. However, NFC has been added to the new device. Note 2 also has a new features called Air View, which allows hovering the S-Pen stylus over gallery, video and email to get a preview of the content. It will also have exclusive S features including Pop-Up and Pop-Up Note. The new device will be packed with features like Screen Recorder, Quick Command and many more.
