Samsung ATIV odyssey headed to Verizon in December this year

Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, announced that the Samsung ATIV Odyssey will be heading to Verizon Wireless at the end of this year around the holiday season. He revealed this news at Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 launch event on 29th October. ATIV Odyssey is the first ATIV smartphone of the Samsung in US. It joins Windows Phone 8 lineup of Verizon. Ballmer did not reveal any details regarding the specs, exact release date and price of the device.

According to Samsung website, the ATIV Odyssey will come with Capacitive OLED touchscreen. The screen size and resolution is not known yet. There will be two cameras: 2 megapixels front facing and 8 megapixels of secondary camera. In terms of connectivity, it features WiFi. Other specs are not disclosed by Samsung. The device is expected to have NFC, SnapDragon dual core processor and 4.65-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with HD resolution.

Microsoft also announced that the Nokia Lumia 822 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X will hit Verizon Wireless till Thanksgiving with a price tag of $99 and $199, respectively.
