Rumours regarding the Facebook Phone have been surfaced once again all over the internet. The rumors were begun in November 2011 that the Facebook smartphone already exists and named as "Buffy" and Facebook partnered with HTC to make Facebook phone. The recent rumor is that Facebook phone will be released in 2013. There are no exact details of Facebook phone but according to the New York Times reports, Facebook has recruited over half a dozen ex-Apple software and hardware engineers, who worked on the iPhone and iPad to build its own phone.  Facebook has not confirmed or denied its plans regarding Facebook Phone, but it says that they are working throughout the entire mobile industry including hardware manufacturers, OS providers, operators and application developers. One anonymous engineer told to the New York Times that the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg had asked him questions regarding the inner workings of smartphones including the types of chips. This is Facebook’s 3rd attempt to make a Smartphone. Earlier two attempts were crumbled due to technical difficulties. The paper also mentions several sources which reveal that the company hopes to have a Smartphone by 2013. The company is making mobile apps for other platforms (iOS and Android), but it does not have much control on those platforms. There is already the core Facebook app, Pages Manager, Messenger and Facebook Camera in the market. Facebook Phone will let the users to post updates, send messages and share photos or article links more easily. |
