):

My best friend is trying to be anorexic, and it scares me to death. One night, me and another friend were at her house, and I made a pizza. We both asked her bunches of times if she wanted any, and she seemed annoyed with us. Then he left, and I went outside for a minute. When I came back in, she was laying on the floor in another room. She said "You know what's funny?" And I asked "What?" And she replied, "I'm starving." And we both starting crying, I'm not sure who did first, but it doesn't really matter. I went over to hug her, and we stayed like that for a few minutes. I went out into the kitchen and got the last two pieces of pizza, and brought them to her. I asked "Will you please eat these?" She hesitated, and said no. So I said "Please?" And she finally did. Her mom doesn't know about this, and she teases her about being fast all the time. Not seriously by any means. But I'm terrified that my friend's situation will get much worse if I can't do anything to help.):

I think that this a pretty

I think that this a pretty flawed description of the disease anorexia nervosa. To suggest that most people who are concious of their figure, and try to lose weight via diet and exercise are anorexic is simply not true. Also, the true cause for a case of anorexia nervosa is often not about body image or losing weight. Often the reason for people suffering this disease is due to a need for control, or due to past problems, such as abuse. Not always, but it's an important point to remember!
