
Cholera is an acute form of diarrhea, which occurs when the intestine has been infected by the Vibrio Cholerae bacterium. The infection can be mild or severe depending on the circumstances and the symptoms. In the last century, many industrialized nations have not experienced an outbreak of cholera but this is still common in Asian countries like India as well as parts of Africa. The sanitation and water systems are quite advanced in countries like USA and there is no threat of cholera there. But people who are frequent travelers should be aware of how this disease is spread and how this can be prevented.
