Cankers sores, which are otherwise known as aphthous ulcers, are sores, which are present inside the mouth of a person. People can also have canker sores on their lips, cheeks, gums and their tongue. Though they can prove to be extremely painful, they cannot cause any substantial harm to the health of a person. These sores will usually heal within a period of two weeks.

Causes of canker sores

The actual causes of canker sores are yet to be determined by experts in the field of medicine. But certain doctors have also stated that these canker sores can be a hereditary problem in certain families. People involved in the field of research have claimed that this could be a reaction to the streptococcus bacteria since these can be found in canker sores quite often.
