Polypill that cuts risk of heart disease and stroke

Researchers believe that the new 'polypill' could halve rates of both diseases, two of the biggest killers in Britain, in middle-aged and older people.

The medication contains a combination of aspirin, three blood pressure-lowering drugs, and a statin, the cholesterol-busting drugs that have been hailed as a breakthrough in the treatment of heart disease.
The medication would be cheap and likely to prove popular with patients, who would benefit from taking one pill a day instead of several.
