Always annoying of zits? Acne can range from having a couple of mild pimples to severe cases that end up even scarring the face. There are many prescription and over-the-counter products on the market, adding up to billions of dollars every year for skin treatments. Help is on the way in the form of home remedies, and they are usually considerably less expensive than any prescription or pharmacy product. An old remedy of applying Milk of Magnesia to a pimple will clear it up in a few days. A dab of regular toothpaste will also dry up zits. A mask made of basil leaves, goldenseal root, and water is a wonderful preventive mask. Another type of mask is made from honey, rose water, and tomato pulp. Oatmeal (cooked, not dry) also makes a good mask. Washing the face with an equal mixture of rose water and lemon juice also works well. Leave it on the face for about a half-hour then rinse it off. If one is not feeling very sociable about his or her zits, a clove of garlic may be rubbed over the acne to help clear it up. A combination of lime juice, boiled milk, and a teaspoon of glycerin will also clear up the acne problem. Egg whites also make an effective mask. Several different combinations of ingredients will also help with acne. Salt mixed with regular white vinegar, ground orange peel and water, lemon juice and ground cinnamon, ground sesame seeds and water are all good masks or usually poultices for acne. A cucumber paste will also heal the skin and refresh it. Applying tea tree oil will help clear the skin, as will aloe vera. Washing one’s face in warm salt water will get rid of excess oils in the skin. Rubbing a slice of lemon or tomato on the face and leaving it overnight will help clear the skin of problem zits. Raw papaya juice rubbed on the face is also a good remedy. A mixture of corn flour and egg whites is another mask that can be used; yet another pimple-fighting mask is one made of honey and cinnamon. Lavender, sandalwood, and basil are three herbs that can be applied to the skin to help treat acne. Very severe cases of acne may also benefit from the opinion of a dermatologist before trying a home remedy in case there are other things going on besides the acne. The good thing is that any underlying problems may be taken care of first and will be out of the way once it is time to start looking to see which home remedy (ore remedies) will work the best for one’s unique skin. |
