As the season changes, change comes in the lifestyle, dressing sense and health. The secret to a healthy body and lifestyle is to make changes in our food habits as per changing season. In summer you can easily consume right foods as variety of fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables are available but in winter little more effort is needed to eat fresh and healthy food. In winter, due to cold weather the pH level of blood decreases and makes us feel acidic as well as our body temperature decreases and emits heat because of low temperatures of the environment. So we need to consume selective alkaline foods and foods with Niacin.

Healthy Eating Tips for Winter

Alkaline foods increases the blood pH levels while foods with Niacin keep you warm in colder months. Consuming alkaline foods makes you feel warmer and more comfy by balancing your body chemistry. The pH level is balanced with the help of protein and fat present in food. This winter you should try to eat meat, eggs, fish, high fat dairy & nuts and feel warmer. Niacin food sources are eggs and dairy products (milk, yogurt, cheese, butter, etc). All-wheat products, animal liver, peanuts and sesame consumption help in Vitamin-B supplements.

In winter eating options are more limited so you should try new recipes. Make soup by adding beans and meat to get more protein. Meat is good option but if you are vegetarian then you can consume plenty of soybeans and soy products to stay warm. Fruits like peaches, apricots and papaya while vegetables such as leeks, carrots and green leafy vegetables like spinach also increase heat production. You can even try warm drinks such as herbal tea, green tea and warm unsweetened soy milk.
