Octopus Floods Santa Monica Pier Aquarium

The two female California spotted octopus swam to the top of her tank and a removable valve with her strong arm and released at least 200 gallons of seawater in the exhibitions and offices area. The aquarium has been used too much water on the floor. Aquarium staff arrived at work earlier this week found several hundreds gallons of water flooding their offices.

Octopus FloodsOctopus is a wonderful combination of intelligence, tremendous manipulative power, curiosity, and strength. The guest of honor aquarium's Kids Corner octopus tank had swum to the top of the housing removed and recycling system valve, flooding the area with about 200 gallons of seawater. Nick Fash the aquarium education specialist said Octopus had grabbed the tube that pulls out the water and caused it to spray outside the tank. octopus is about the size of a human forearm and its appendages are extended, floated lazily in the water that remained in its tank. Aquarium spokeswoman Randi Parent says no sea life was damaged by flooding, but the new ecologically designed floor can be damaged by water. Octopus is widely considered to be the world's smartest Invertebrate, set a level of intelligence to the comparative house cat.
