Recently, the study has found that Pfizer Inc.'s drug Chantix could increase the risk of heart problems and other cardiovascular problems. The study has been done by FDA (Food and Drug administration) on 16th June, 2011. Generally, smokers use Chantix drug to quit smoking, but it may cause considerably increased risk of heart problems in user. FDA study is based on the clinical trial of 700 smokers with diagnosed cardiovascular disease who consumed Chantix for three months. As per the previous 14 studies of Chantix, people who are taking Chantix drug, has a 72 percent chances of increased risk of being hospitalized with a heart attack or several very serious heart diseases. It is the review of over 8200 smokers or users of smokeless tobacco, in which 4,900 users took Chantix. In the brain, Chantix blocks the effects of nicotine and thereby relieves withdrawal symptoms. It also blocks the nicotine effects from cigarettes if users continue smoking. Chantix is causing heart problems and certain cancers, so don’t use it and try to quit smoking without helping it. If you cannot do that, then you can use some other cheaper and safer alternatives. |
