Easy Home Remedies for Low Blood Pressure

There are many home remedies for low blood pressure. Even though this is a condition that was long thought to be only treatable by a physician, there are simple and effective home remedies that can help alleviate low blood pressure.

One easy home remedy is to simply take a warm bath in Epsom salts. A warm, salty bath for ten to twenty minutes will not only be relaxing, it will help raise the blood pressure by a few points. A generous amount of Epsom salts dissolved in a tub of warm water is a remedy that anyone can do, regardless of any other health conditions.

Another simple and effective home remedy for low blood pressure is to simply add a little more salt to one’s daily diet, either by sprinkling it on one’s food at mealtime, or by adding a few foods to one’s diet that are higher in sodium (such as some frozen entrees, etc.). Care should be taken as to how much of the higher sodium foods are consumed so as not to overdo one’s sodium intake – moderation is always a good practice, and always read food labels for the amount of sodium that is present.

Vitamins are also a good source for a home remedy of low blood pressure. Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is a particularly good and important treatment, as are proteins, vitamin C, and the rest of the B vitamins. Regular vitamin intake will help regulate body and organ functions, including blood pressure.

If a person is used to brewing ingredients, other home remedies will work as well. A paste made from almonds can be taken with a glass of water as one remedy. If one lives near an herbal store, a tea may be made from steeping an herb called Indian spikenard and drinking that three times a day.

Increasing one’s intake of fruit and doing light exercise will also help raise the blood pressure to more normal levels. Juices such as pomegranate and beetroot will also help. A morning cup of coffee will also help raise the blood pressure, which is typically lower on awakening from sleep. Cycling, walking, swimming, and any other light exercise will also aid in regulating low blood pressure.

Caution should always be taken when trying a new home remedy for the first time. If there are any doubts, the advice of a health care professional should be sought. A physician may suggest a visit in order to rule out any possibility of serious health concerns stemming from low blood pressure or any other conditions which may be a contributing factor. Once any other health concerns or conditions have been ruled out, the type of treatment is up to the patient, and the patient may choose the course of treatment that he or she feels is best suited.
