Don’t Be Nuts, But Do Eat Them For Good Health

Two new studies are being presented this week that highlight the health benefits of a diet that includes nuts and seeds. The research is being presented at the 2010 Experimental Biology meeting and focuses primarily on the nutritional qualities of tree nuts, such as pistachios.

The first study focuses on the correlation between snacking on nuts and long-term blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes. Researchers from the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto found that the addition of 75 grams of nuts to the diet, or a little more than 2.5 ounces, signific....
