New research suggests that contraceptives like birth control pills could cause memory loss in women. Contraceptives such as birth control pills decrease estrogen and progesterone to stop pregnancy. As per Larry Cahill, a neurobiologist who worked on the study, estrogen and progesterone are the chemicals of left brain, or analytical memory and have been associated with the ability to logically remember events in women. If women takes birth control pills, their ability to memorize the substance of an emotional event recovers and if they do not utilize the contraceptives, they better remember details. The investigation shows that memory of a woman may be affected by contraceptive pills to remember events more similar to men. As per experts, birth control pills have a tendency to keep different aspects of an incident in mind from those with natural menstrual cycles. According to the study, the Pill changes a woman’s hormone balance, and alters the way, she memorizes information. |
