GM LCVs will be launched in india by 2011

On the sidelines of launching its ‘Beat’ city car in Kolkata, GM India is keen to introduce its LCV range in India by 2011. The commercial vehicles and cars will be launched from the stables of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) by the end of next year.

Karl Slym, president and managing director of GM India, said the first products from the SAIC JV will come by the end of 2011. SAIC has got from GM a majority stake in the venture and, in early December when the JV was announced, the Chinese auto giant said it would invest $350 million in the India initiative.

GM India currently manufactures the Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet U-Va, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet SRV, Chevrolet Optra Magnum, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Tavera and Chevrolet Captiva at its two state of the art facilities in Halol and Talegaon.
