Within a short time, the flying car of Terrafugia will be ready to take off from highways to skyways. Yes, the car which can fly when it caught in a traffic jam will become a reality at the end of 2012. Earlier in 2009, Terrafugia did not pass safety standards due to the size of its wheels. But on 30th June of 2011, the US Federal Aviation Administration has granted this approval and gives assurance about that the flying-driving car will have a few design changes which allow it to work safely both on road and in air. The Terrafugia Transition is the first to get particular consideration from the Department of Transportation since the 1970s.

As per the LA Times, this is the first roadable aircraft and its price ballooned from $148k to $250k and can be reserved for a $10,000 deposit. Company said that 70 people have already booked the car. Terrafugia will come with airplane-style plastic windows in order to work well on the road and in the air. It is fully fueled; and you can fly it to the range of 400 to 450 miles though it weighs in about 600 kg. This is the first flying car with such wings which fold up at the touch of the button and when they are fully dragged in; it look like an ordinary car. This process takes only 30 seconds. This two-seater transition can use its front-wheel to drive on roads.

Some problems with suppliers delay the release date to late 2012 instead of as early as this year. The major advantage of the Transition is safety. It can basically be driven even in inclement weather. User must have to follow airport regulations, and particularly needs valid pilot license to get it on. To take off the aircraft Terrafugia, Transition requires 1,700-feet runway.
