
Social network games have been accused by developer Jonathan Blow of transforming friends into resources and not encouraging real friendship. Blow, who is well known for his outspoken approach to video games, told PC Gamer that he felt social games were “trying to take the maximum amount while trying to give the minimum amount. Video games such as World of Warcraft or Counter-Strike allow players to meet new people via ‘clans’ or ‘guilds’, whereas those embedded within social networks require you to exploit those you already know. |
