This is going to be the New Year surprise for technology lovers. World’s largest OLED TV till date is to be unveiled by the LG Electronics. It will be displayed for the CES (Consumer Exhibition Show) in January, 2012 at Las Vegas.

The 55-inch OELD TV is only 5 millimeter thick. It is claimed to be the slimmest TV. Instead of the regular low-temperature polysilicon it uses an oxide thin-film transistor. This minimizes the cost of production and hence the selling price reduces itself. An added feature of the TV is its thin display screen. All these features together make it the lightest TV in market. It creates an incredible image quality .It will give the brightest, largest and sharpest images ever seen on any TV screen. It has a higher contrast ratio (about 100,000:1) and wider color gamut than that of LCD TVs.

It is also environment friendly and energy efficient as it consumes less power. Like LCDs light sources in backlight units must always be kept on, the OLED panel allows diodes to be turned on or off, this allows lower power consumption. It is obvious that this technology may not be cheap; however there is no news about the price. It will surely enhance the beauty of your living rooms.
