Sony, a Japanese multinational company has announced its new full-frame SLT (Single Lens Translucent) camera named Sony Alpha SLT-A99. In fact, the company has announced four digital cameras at one go and they are Alpha A99 SLT camera, the Cyber-shot DSC-RX1 compact camera, the NEX-6 mirrorless camera, and the Handycam NEX-VG900 interchangeable lens camcorder. The device will make use of a 2.4M dot XGA OLED electronic viewfinder instead of using an optical one. SLT-A99 is expected to get released in the month of October or November at an approximate price tag of £2,500, whereas the device is estimated to retail in the US store for $2,800. The Exmor CMOS sensor will have the latest technologies like light multi-segment low-pass filter, concentration technology and photo diode expansion. This latest technology will give an improved image quality with ISO settings. In addition to that, it will feature a unique Dual AF system that will make use of two different phase-detection AF sensors such as 19-point phase-detection AF sensor and 102-point focal plane phase-detection AF sensor. SLT-A99 will have BIONZ image processor that is expected to deliver sufficient speed for large file sizes and provide support for low-light sensitivity, noise reduction and quick focusing. The device will feature a magnesium framework, which is reinforced by a stainless steel. A99 will offer 10 frames per second in burst mode and 200,000 cycles tested shutter for a long-term professional use. The device will feature an audio level display with better control over the volume along with an optical XLR accessory, a headphone jack and a HDMI output. The XGA OLED will give 100% frame coverage with excellent contrast, clarity, resolution and brightness. A multi-controller is accessible on the front of the camera via a dial, which will allow adjustment of exposure compensation, ISO sensitivity & metering method, shutter speed, aperture and audio record levels while recording a video. The device will utilize a translucent mirror that allows faster burst rate of 14fps in full resolution JPEGs. Alpha SLT-A99 will sport two media card slots, one for the SD card and the other for the Memory Stick along with a 14-bit RAW output. Videos and Photos will be recorded at the same time in both the cards. The users will be able to record different media on the basis of the RAW/JPEG file format or on the type of recording (photo/video). The folders can be easily copied from one card to another. A99 will get the latest 300mm F2.8 G lens, and it will support a built-in GPS unit. The device will be offered with a XLR-K1M adapter kit, which will include accessories like a new ring light (HVL-RL1), a vertical grip (VG-C99AM) and a HVL-F60AM external flash gun.
