Renault, French carmaker is looking to bring embedded and fully functional tablet named as R-Link into production vehicle. The voice activated and a seven-inch R-link will be installed into its new upcoming cars in 2012, Clio and Zoe models. It will be presented in France during the LeWeb consumer electronics show. The system will access social networks as it will link to user’s Smartphones and the cloud. The tablet is controllable through the steering wheel, screen, and voice commands which provide navigation, entertainment, and social functionality. The tablet will come with 50 apps for download at the starting when it launches on cars. The apps will be downloadable directly to the tablet inside the car or through the My Renault account. The R-link tablet is based on the Android OS as well as the navigation software comes from TomTom and homescreen can be customized. Once it is released, various apps like gas mileage app and location sharing app are expected to disentangle their features. The price and other specs are not reveled yet.
