iPad mini gets release date in October

The long awaited iPad mini has finally got a release date. The device will be released this October. However, Apple has not confirmed it yet. Also the actual date is not known. The company is expected to launch its next iPhone, or iPhone 5 in an event on the 12th September in California. The iPhone 5 is expected to start shipping from September 21.

Earlier both the Apple devices were expected to debut in a common event. But now it is being said that both the iPhone and iPad will be launched at two separate events this fall. As per earlier reports, the smaller iPad may come with a 7.85 inch display and may have a smaller charging port. It is also expected to be less expensive than the current iPad.

The decision of the company makes logical sense as Apple will not like to be in a situation where customers will have to choose one of these Apple products and not buy both gadgets. A two event approach over 2 months means that the customers would be able to upgrade to the iPhone 5 in September and buy the iPad a month later. The two launches will be the biggest hardware announcements of Apple in this year.

This mini iPad is rumored to be 7.3 mm in thickness, 134.73 mm in width, 200.13 mm in length. It may also feature a mini dock connector along with redesigned speakers and a microphone on the backside. Additionally, there may be a rear camera and a front camera. The storage capacity may be 8GB or more. The device may run iOS 6. It is expected to ship this fall with a price tag of around $299.
