HCL, one of the leading companies of India, has already launched two 7-inch tablets named Me Tab X1 and the Me Tab U1 in India. Now, the company is going to launch another tablet in Indian market called Y2. Y2 will be a 3G tablet with a SIM slot for 3G access and WiFi connectivity. This makes it one of the few tablets that feature both, WiFi and 3G internet connectivity. The launch of this tablet PC was announced by Mr Gautam (Executive VP of HCL Info Systems) on 19th June at a press event in New Delhi. The event was also attended by the Bollywood actress, Parineeti Chopra. The company will release Y2 tablet in August, 2012 with a price tag of Rs. 18,000. Y2 will run on Google’s latest Android system 4.0 (ICS). The company has not revealed any other features and specs of the tablet but it is expected to have better hardware compared to the recent line of HCL tablets that are available in the market. Y2 is expected to have 7-inch display and a 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor with 512 MB of RAM. The tablet will let the users to download applications from the HCL Me App Store. The company is already enjoying 15% market share throughout the tablet market and 50% market share in sub-Rs 10,000 category. |
