Akai, the Japanese Consumer Electronics Company has launched an Android powered TV called the Smart Box. The device works with all sorts of televisions like LCD, LED, Plasma and CRT. The users can browse web and use the android application. The Smart box also supports Google Play, enabling the users to download thousands of applications. The company hopes to achieve a turnover of Rs. 250 crore and a market of 1 lakh units for the AKAI Smart Box. The device is available in India at a price tag of Rs. 6590 (M.R.P. Rs. 6990). The Smart Box runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. The device is powered by a 1.25GHz processor. The Smart Box has 4GB internal storage along with a micro SD card slot up to 32GB HDMI port. The connectivity features of the device includes Ethernet port, AV port, 3G dongle support, 4xUSB2.0 Ports, Wi-Fi and 2G network support. The all new Smart Box sports a wireless mouse for better navigation, so that it can perform all the functions with ease. The device also supports numerous video and audio formats. Other built-in features of the device are Skype, YouTube, Google Talk, preloaded games and social networking sites. According to the Managing Director of Akai India, Pranay Dhabhai, ‘The all new Smart Box is set to change the way television is seen in India’. Customers who are planning to buy the Smart box can choose to purchase a normal LED TV and easily connect it with Smart Box. |
