In India, daily new tablets are releasing with exciting features. The existing tablets are upgrading to cope up with the new trends. Aakash 2, the successor of the Aakash slate will be upgraded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and Dual-core processor. The main reason behind this upgrade is Micromax funbook and HCL ME tab U1. These two tablets were unveiled under the same chain and got very good response from the public. Aakash 2 will get Android 4.0 and Dual-core processor after 6-8 months of its launch in May 2012. This news is confirmed by the CEO of DataWind, Sandeep Singh Tuli. The world’s cheapest tablet will get dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor. For now, the tablet will be shipped with Android 2.3 OS and single-core 800MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor. As the updates will come in effect, the device will run more powerfully and provide good user-experience. Aakash 2 features 256MB of RAM, 7-inch capacitive multitouch and 2GB flash storage. Compared to original Aakash tablet, the battery of Aakash 2 will be also improved. The actual price of the device for the students will be same as Aakash 1, $35. It is expected that the price of the tablet for general public will be around $45. As per the Indian government, they have already bought about 5,000,000 Aakash 2 tablets. |
