The feds are looking into allegations that it's competing unfairly with Adobe as the two companies spar in public. But on the plus side, Apple is gearing up for the launch of its next-gen iPhone and it's selling iPads like crazy. Peggy Albright reports. The unfair competition matter came up this week when it was revealed that the Federal Trade Commission and the Justice Department are looking into accusations that Apple is violating antitrust regulations by making it difficult for non-Apple applications to run on the iPhone and iPad. The issue stems from Appleās new SDK and developer agreement, introduced in early April, which requires developers create native applications for the forthcoming iPhone OS 4 and prohibits use of applications developed with non-Apple tools and software (see - Is Apple trying to choke cross-platform apps development?) |
