A turbo diesel Beetle would be launched later in year 2013, this announcement was made by Volkswagen at the Chicago Auto Show. Now, Volkswagen has declared that the Beetle TDI will be available at the starting price of $24,065, containing a destination charge of $770 in August. The 2013 VW Beetle TSI will be the sixth Volkswagen diesel available in the U.S. and include VW’s 140-horsepower, a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and a standard six-speed manual or optional dual-clutch automated manual. It will add the 2.5-liter five-cylinder and turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline models in the Beetle lineup.
The Beetle TDI will come in three trim levels such as the base model, TDI; the mid-trim level, named TDI with Sunroof; and the top-line trim level, named TDI with Sunroof, Sound, and Navigation. The new Beetle will come with one-touch power windows, leatherette seating, cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, three-color ambient lighting, keyless entry with push-button start, satellite radio and a media device interface with iPod cable and auxiliary input jack. All Beetle TDIs will come with a six-speed manual transmission; however a six-speed dual-clutch transmission is accessible for an extra $1,110. 140 horsepower and 236 foot-pounds of torque will be produced by the direct-injection engine.
The model will include manufacturer fuel economy estimates of 41 mpg highway and 32 mpg city when equipped with a manual transmission. Price of TDI, manual transmission is $24,065; and automatic transmission is $25,165 including a $770 destination fee. Price of TDI with Sunroof, manual transmission is $25,665; and automatic transmission is $26,765 including a $770 destination fee. TDI with Sunroof, Sound and Navigation is priced for manual transmission at $26,965; and for automatic transmission at $28,065 including a $770 destination fee.
