Porsche has expanded the Cayenne SUV lineup with the launch of 2013 Porsche Cayenne diesel car. This diesel-powered car was unveiled on 3rd April, before the 2012 New York International Auto Show. It is the first diesel-powered vehicle of the company in the U.S. markets. This car has been available in the European market from 2009. It will hit the U.S. markets in September with a base price of $55,750 without destination charge ($975).
It comes with the same exterior as the standard Cayenne with only one difference. The only difference is the two "Diesel’ badges on the front fenders (left and right). There are some interior modifications such as analog clock on the dashboard and a new power door lock buttons located next to the front door handles. The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology has been used in the car to meet Tier 2 BIN 5 emission standards.
2013 Porsche Cayenne Diesel features 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine, which delivers 240 hp and a torque of 406 lb-ft (550 Nm). The car reaches 60 mph (98 km/h) in 7.2 seconds and has top track speed of 135 mph (220 km/h). So, it will be 0.2 seconds faster than a base Cayenne and 2.8 seconds slower than the Cayenne Turbo. The tow rating of the car is 7716-pounds and it can cover a distance of about 740 miles on a single tank.
