2013 Mercedes A-Class: Review in Video

Mercedes-Benz is all set to bring the latest A-Class cars in the auto-market. The 2013 Mercedes A-Class was unveiled at the popular 2012 Geneva Motor Show and it is expected to go on sale by the month of September 2012. Mercedes-Benz claims that the all new A-Class will be a classy car packed with lots of high-tech features and technologies. Plus, the 2013 Mercedes A-Class cars will be available in three grades namely ‘Style’, ‘Urban’, and ‘AMG Sport’. With the help of AutoExpress folks, now we can take a closer look at the upcoming new Mercedes-Benz model.

The AutoExpress folks were lucky enough to test drive a diesel version of the 2013 Mercedes A-Class. They have put up a video of this test drive online and hence the world has got one of the first reviews of the forthcoming Mercedes model. As expected, the 2013 Mercedes A-Class car looks very impressive with some wonderful innovative features and high performance engine. The video clearly shows that the latest 2013 Mercedes A-Class will be completely different from the preceding generation of this same model. The interior of the car also looks very luxurious and stylish.

The engine line-up of new 2013 Mercedes A-Class will contain both diesel and petrol versions that ensures more fuel economy and more dynamics than ever before. It will offer a drag coefficient of 0.27, which is definitely the best-in-class. Plus, the emission factor is also very remarkable with just 98 g of CO2/km. All engine variants will feature standard ECO start/stop function and they will work either with the new 6-speed manual transmission or the 7G-DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 1.6-2.0 liters 4 cylinder petrol engine will combine Direct Injection and Turbocharging, and this engine will be capable to provide an output of 115 HP to 211 HP. In the mean time, the 1.6 liters 4-cylinder engine will support a new Camtronic system for improved fuel efficiency.

The turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine will offer an impressive output of 109 HP to 170 HP and torque of 184 lb-ft to 258 lb-ft. The new A-Class models will also have several safety technologies such as collision-prevention system, speed-limit assist, lane-keeping assist, blindspot assist, PRE-SAFE Occupant Protection, etc. Moreover, these A-Class cars will be family-friendly cars as they will feature ISOFIX child seat securing system on the outer seats. The child seats can be easily fixed to the vehicle with the help of a special anchorage points with top tethers. The seats to be used are extremely comfortable and they are offered in wide range of colors, coverings, fabric, leather, and geometry. The company will also offer sports seats along with head restraints. All A-Class variants will get 2-bar grille as the front fascia features and LED daytime running lights.

The spacious and luxurious cabin will look very attractive with high-quality materials and design. It will feature a two-tier dashboard with soft-touch materials. Plus, the dash will have the iPad styled info-display. The A-Class will also offer iPhone integration through the COMAND interface with a “Digital DriveStyle App” that will work in conjunction with the LCD screen mounted on the dashboard. In addition, the system will allow the occupants to use voice commands through the iPhone’s Siri technology. The manufacturer will also install a 3-spoke steering wheel in all models that will come with an electroplated bezel and 12 function buttons.

The 2013 Mercedes A-Class is expected to arrive with a starting price of £18,945. With these many innovative features and high-rate performance, the 2013 Mercedes A-Class will come out as a tough competitor for popular cars like Volvo V40, Audi A3, and the new BMW 1-Series.
