2013 McLaren MP4-12C: Specs and Price detailed

The new 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider, high-performance sports car has been revealed by McLaren Automotive. This sports car is second model in MP4-12C lineup from McLaren. It is now available for order but its delivery will start in November-December 2012. Price of this sports car will be $268,250, including a $2,500 destination charge. After one year of the hard-top MP4-12C’s launch, this convertible supercar is coming with the 2013 update and all the newest features. This sports car will compete with the Ferrari 458 Italia Spyder and help to revitalize life into the high-performance sports car market.

The new 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider will be powered by familiar 3.8-litre V8 Twin-Turbo engine that offers 625 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of peak torque. The engine of this car is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It will have a top speed of 204 mph and sprints from zero to 62 mph in 3.1 seconds whereas the quarter mile is passed in 10.8 seconds at a speed of 134 mph. McLaren describes that this car will contain ‘Retractable Hard Top’ folding roof system which can be operated at speeds of up to 19 mph. As well, it takes under 17 seconds to lower or raise the roof and its top speed remains an impressive 204 mph--just 3 mph shy of the hard-top’s peak.

The MP4-12C Spider sports car is expected to necessarily the same to its coupe sibling means it is also made excellent use out of the superior carbon fiber monocoque, tipping the scales at just 165 lbs. This Spider has only obtained 40kg/88 lbs over the coupe, regardless of the inserted weight of the electronic systems that is compulsory to open and close the hardtop. This car also comes with a rollover protection system with each of those tall buttresses that includes a steel structure intended to absorb impact energy and defend inhabitants.

The interior of this sporty car is a lot same as the hard-top model. Semi-aniline perforated leather and Alcantara trim are some new features that are included in the MP4-12C range. 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider will also contain a new 19-inch wheel pattern and vehicle lift feature. Owners will be able to increase the ground clearance by up to 40 mm at the front and 25 mm at the back to escape those bumps. This vehicle can work in an increased state at speeds of up to 37 mph.
