2012 Hyundai Elantra: Price, Specs & Features for India

Once again, the Korean automaker Hyundai is back in the car market with its new 2012 Hyundai Elantra. This latest generation car has now been recognized globally. It has got many awards including the 2012 North American car of the year award. It has also made its place among one of the few cars to have sold more than a million units in just one year. Now, the new Elantra is all set to hit the Indian car showrooms. In India, the car is available in both diesel and petrol variants. The car measures 4530 X 1775 X 1470 mm with 2700 mm wheelbase and 56 liters of fuel tank capacity.

The petrol variant comes with a 1.8 litre engine producing 149.5 PS of maximum power output at 6500 RPM and 166 Nm of peak torque at 4700 RPM. The diesel variant features the diesel engine that is found in the Verna. It is a 1582 CC CRDI engine that produces a maximum power of 128 PS at 4000 RPM and peak torque of 261 Nm at around 1900 to 2750 RPM. Both these engines have been accompanied by a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox. The 2012 Hyundai Elantra will be available in 6 colors options including white, black, bronze, silver, blue and red.

In the interiors the new Elantra sports cruise control, six airbags, ventilated front seats, dual zone AC with cluster ionizer, rear AC vents, rear seat audio controls, power driver seat with electric lumbar support, solar glass, electro-chromic mirror with rear view camera, electric folding and heated outside rear view mirrors, rear parking sensors, silica tyres with 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, steering mounted audio controls with Bluetooth connectivity, cooled glove box, vehicle stability management (VSM), electronic stability program (ESP), ABS, hill hold control and much more. The interiors are in 2-tone cocoa black and beige colors. In India, the 2012 Hyundai Elantra is expected to be priced around Rs 12 to 17 lakh. The car will be available from August 2012.
