Saturday’s UFC 109 card is suffered from the afterbirth of The Fall Curse of 09, with the initial match up of Lil Nog vs. Brandon Vera being scrapped due to Nog’s ankle injury and Josh Koscheck withdrawing from his rematch with Paulo Thiago due to his own injury, so teammate Mike Swick has stepped in for Koscheck. Interestingly enough, the UFC main event featuring Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman (being jokingly referred to as “The Battle of the Old Geezers”) has made it this far without injuries. Their combined age is 91. Okay I promise no more jokes about their age since it’s been beaten like a dead horse around the blogosphere. With that said, let’s get down to it:

Unfortunately, injuries and illness bit the UFC hard and the biggest company in MMA is struggling to close out the year.

The UFC is walking a fine line right now. Several recent UFC fights have gone the distance. Unfortunately for the UFC and its fans, the judges have picked some questionable winners. In the last few weeks three big UFC fights were marred by bad decisions. Could the one of the biggest sports in the world be in danger of losing its fanbase?

One of the biggest reasons in the decline in boxing over the last two decades is integrity. Fans started to question the integrity of the sport after some very questionable decisions. Whether a boxing or UFC promoter tells you one way or the other, there is always a winner that is better for business. Fans can get past one or two bad decisions, but any more and fans will start raising eyebrows and spending their money and their time elsewhere.

UFC 105 will make just as many headlines as the second consecutive card with a questionable decision in its main event as it will for being one of the worst cards that the UFC has ever put on.

UFC 105: Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera Reportedly Set for Manchester

Randy Couture will begin his quest at the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 105. Couture has signed to fight Brandon Vera at UFC 105. The fight will air delayed on Spike TV a few hours after the event.

Randy Couture will be training suspended NFL stars that violated the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy. New York Jets LB Calvin Pace will be the first take his four week suspension and spend it at Xtreme Couture.
